Archives for the month of: May, 2011

One of my favorite events of the design year, ICFF, just came to a close in NYC. The International Contemporary Furniture Fair is held at the Javitz Center, the convention mecca of New York City. This year’s winner’s circle award for lighting went to Wastberg. I so love this beautiful flat-headed table lamp, the Claesson Koivisto Rune w081t2. How beautiful would it be in an office or modern room on a side table for reading? So fun to pair it with a great textile. Say, our very own Popover? We did a custom colorway of Popover for a client’s penthouse home in this very color (see below). The lamp kind of reminds me of the Popover pattern itself. Clean, straightforward and contemporary. Lovin’ this lighting! Obviously, so is the rest of the design world. Here’s to illuminating design, in all it’s shapes and forms. Happy Friday!

If you happen to be lucky enough to live in, or be visiting, the great city of San Francisco, find an interior-obsessed friend (you know the one!) and head over to the San Francisco Decorator Showcase located at: 2950 Vallejo Street (between Lyon and Baker) in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. Click here for a map.

The stunning Italian Villa Estate offers a tour of rooms appointed by the Bay Area’s most talented interior and landscape designers. Not only will you have an afternoon to revel in the design good-life as you stroll through a top-to-bottom best-of-SF design directory, proceeds benefit Financial Aid Program of San Francisco University High School.  good design + good deed= good day indeed!

Now through May 30th, 2011 you can also catch a glimpse of Studio Bon in action! The talented Jeannie Fraise, of Lotus Bleu Designs, contributed the bright and beautiful Studio Craft Room and lucky for us, used Studio Bon’s Oompa in Black (see below) for the curtains.

Can you imagine having this craft room in your house? Wow! What a lovely space, and what fun to be part of this great event! Another big Thank You to Lotus Bleu for choosing Studio Bon Textiles for your project.

Happy Friday! I wanted to do a quick feature on a favorite furniture maker of mine-BDDW. While working for Emily Summers Design Associates I had the pleasure of being exposed to this great manufacturer’s offerings as we used them in many a sleek minimalist project. Often design is as much about what isn’t there, as what is, as is certainly the case with this beautiful collection. I’m repeatedly drawn to the smooth natural finishes, straightforward silhouettes and integrity of form. Tyler Hays is the designer and founder of this small American company. Such a beautiful body of work. Hope you enjoy it, and maybe find a place for his inimitable creations in your project or home!
